Emily Stewart

Emily recently completed the 2-year graduate scheme at Cancer Research UK where she had a variety of roles managing operational and strategic projects across fundraising, business improvement, innovation strategy, and policy development. Highlights included drafting international tobacco policy consultation responses and delivering a high value (£100k+) fundraising event at Downing Street. On completion Emily spent 3 months living in eco-communities in New Zealand, becoming inspired by local land leadership and sustainability practices. Upon her return Emily immersed herself in sustainability systems change at Forum for the Future, contributing to the Protein Challenge 2040, and in her spare time has been involved in post-Brexit democracy reform.

Previously, Emily spent 6 months on VSO’s global citizenship programme carrying out community development work in Nigeria and Essex. She gained further international development experience as a researcher at the ODI, learning about the role of the private sector in social change, and through field trips to educational and agricultural projects in Sri Lanka and Mozambique. Her love of exploring what it means to be human has taken her to 6 continents over the past 5 years.

Whilst at university she was deeply engaged with Student Hubs and, as VP of the Oxford Hub, was passionate about bringing others into the social impact space. She is currently on the board of a social enterprise supporting access to third sector careers.

Emily holds a BA in Psychology, Philosophy & Physiology from University College, Oxford.
